Frequently
Asked Questions
1. Will adjusting
loft angles help me improve my game ?
Yes. Some golfers tend to add
loft or de-loft the clubface at impact. It is,
therefore, important to find the optimum loft for
the optimum ball flight.
2. If you adjust my
lie angle, will it improve my game ?
Definitely. It is the second
most important part of fitting. A lie angle at
address is definitely not the same angle at
impact. Too flat an angle and the club will push
the ball to the right. Too upright and there is a
tendency to pull.
3. If I lengthen my
shaft in my driver, will it give me more distance
and will I hit it straighter ?
In some cases, yes, but in
most cases, no. Generally, a shaft thats
too long will cause outward and inward swings
which, in turn, will cause the ball to slice,
thus losing distance.
4. Which is better
steel or graphite ?
In my opinion, accuracy is
far more important than distance. Therefore, I
think most golfers should use steel shafts. If
the golfer is a slow swinger or has some physical
problems, or if the golfer is a lady, then
graphite is the way to go.
5. Is custom-fitting
as good as OEM clubs off the rack ?
Of course. OEM clubs off the
shelf are basically the same. Most OEM clubs
cannot be adjusted for the individual, unlike
custom-fitted clubs which can be adjusted to suit
the individual eg, loft, lie, flex, grip size,
length.
6. Will having
custom-fitted clubs help me play better golf ?
Not in all cases but the
majority of golfers will see an improvement in
their game compared to a golfer who buys OEM
clubs off the shelf.
7. Is the after sales
service for custom-fitted clubs better than for
off-the-shelf clubs ?
At RGT, we pride ourselves on
after sales service. When you buy off the shelf
clubs, the service received is limited because
the person who sold you the clubs is a sales
person who does not have background in club
making or club repair. That is why golfers who
have problems with their clubs and just want them
serviced, should go to a custom fitter like RGT.
8. Is the quality of
materials used in custom fitting as good as the
big OEM companies?
In most cases, the material
we use in custom fitting is either the same or of
a higher quality than those used in OEM
9. What sort of
guarantee can RGT give me against OEM clubs ?
At RGT, we give a 5 10
year guarantee against breakages for
custom-fitted clubs whereas OEM does not.
10. Do professional
golfers use the same type and make of clubs that
you buy off the shelf ?
What you see most
professionals use, cannot be bought off the
shelf. Nearly all pros have them fitted for their
individual swing. At RGT, we can do that for
amateur golfers.
