APAG is now giving EXISTING MEMBERS the opportunity to obtain an official MGA handicap if you meet one of the following conditions:

1. you have played golf for more than 1 year.

2. you have been playing less than 1 year, but have submitted at least 20 scorecards.

3. you can produce proof of a previous handicap from a registered golf club.

The handicap will be based on the USGA handicapping index system and the procedures are as follows:

1. Minimum 10 scorecards of 18 holes (if playing more than 1 year).

2. Rules and etiquette questions on-course during testing.

3. Playing of 5 holes: 3 par 4's, 1 par 5, 1 par 3.

4. Scores to be set by tester on the day of test taking into consideration weather and course conditions.

5. Taking into consideration the golfers general knowledge on how to get around the golf course.

6. Comparing the submitted scorecards to the player's performance during the test.

7. Handicap approval will be given if all standards are met.

8. Handicaps are to be given provisionally, if the golfer fails to achieve the set criteria and in the opinion of the tester, further training and understanding of the game's rules and etiquette are required.

9. Once the additional requirements are fulfilled, an MGA-endorsed handicap will be given.

Note: From 1st April 2002 ....

Procedures for NEW APAG MEMBERS (from 1st April 2002) wanting to get an official MGA handicap and for existing members of less than 1 year who have submitted less than 20 cards.

Prior to handicap testing, each golfer will need to attend the following :

• Rules and etiquette seminar held by APAG Professionals at Monterez Golf Academy.

• After attending the above seminar, the golfer needs to attend 2 golf lessons supplied free of charge by an APAG professional.

HOW TO GET YOUR OFFICIAL APAG MGA/USGA HANDICAP UNDERWAY

1. Register your name and pay your fee to the APAG Office or Mr. Harbans at Beringin Golf Course.

2. Fill out the application form and return it to either the APAG Office or Mr Harbans at Beringin golf Course by hand or fax.

3. Make sure you have returned a minimum of 10 scorecards to the APAG Office or Mr Harbans at Beringin Golf Course.

4. We will notify you of times available and it will be your responsibility to make yourself available at the confirmed time. There will be morning and afternoon tests done twice a week.

5. The handicap test will be conducted on a first-come-first-serve basis. The earlier you register the earlier you can take your test.

6. Failure to show up (once your test time is confirmed) will result in forfeiture of fee and your name will be placed at the bottom of the list. Please advice any cancellation 48 hours in advance.
