| At Awana Genting Highlands Golf &
Country Resort, one gets to experience
dawn breaking over the mountains, streaks
of sunlight shining through a blanket of
mist, gently nudging it away to magically
unfold the rare beauty of the highlands,
leaving only heavily most-laden flora and
cool, crisp mountain air as reminders of
its presence just moments ago. This is
a world of lush greenery and
cool-mountain air which one will wake up
to and sleep with the breathtaking
surroundings still on one's mind.
Awana Genting Highlands & Country
Resort is situated 3,000 feet above sea
level and is only an hour's drive from
Kuala Lumpur via the Karak Highway with
majestic views along the way. After
travelling 25km, turn-off into the
Genting Highlands road and after another
13km, one will be at the resort.
The Ronald Fream designed championship
golf course boasts of a challenging and
undulating layout characterised by target
greens, inclines, ravines and pristine
bunkers. Teeing-off the Serangoon turfed
tee-boxes is an experience in itself.
Every tee-box is well-landscaped with
colourful flora offering some of the most
spectacular sights ever seen. The
immaculate fairways are beautifully
bordered with pine trees and a host of
other coniferous evergreens, creating a
fascinating foreign golf-course effect.
Though a resort course, pars and
birdies can be quite elusive here. Most
of the cowgrass covered fairways are
narrow and require good course
management. Your short game skill,
especially putting, should come in handy
at Awana's Bent-grass greens which are
exceptionally fast, measuring at 9.5.
There is no rough here but a severe hook
or slice could land your ball into the
surrounding primary forest. Precision is
all important at this layout.
