| Kelab Golf Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah
(KGSAAS) or more popularly referred to as
"The Home of Night Golfing" is
a premier resort cum residential
development which includes luxurious
bungalows, modern apartments, specialty
restaurants and last but not least, a
27-hole USGA class championship golf
course. Located on the northern
portion of Shah Alam Township and very
close to the majestic Blue Mosque and an
imposing 80,000 capacity Shah Alam
Stadium, KGSAAS is easily accessible from
all major centres of activity in both
Federal Territory and Selangor. Just 25
minutes from Kuala Lumpur International
Airport and 10 minutes from Subang
International Airport., KGSAAS has become
an important venue not just for social
golf but professional events as well.
KGSAAS is popular for its night golfing
mainly because it is recognised as having
the best lighting facilities in the
region.
KGSAAS is the first club in Malaysia
designed by 5 times British Open
champion, Peter Thomson, who has created
a course utilising the terrain's natural
undulations and lake fully, replanted
over 25,000 trees and shrubs in the
formation of a truly scenic and
challenging golf course. His trademark
pot bunkers, rolling fairways and
medium-to-large elevated greens are all
present on the 27 holes which have been
segregated into the President's Nine,
Sultan's Nine and Alam Shah's Nine.
The signature hole of the course is
the longest par 5 - 11th hole on the
Sultan's Nine which is fondly referred to
as "The Dragon Hole". Because
of its numerous difficulties which has
become the nightmare of many golfers, the
tee-box is slightly elevated and you are
able to see how narrow the fairway is -
flanked by palm trees and OB on the right
and a water hazard on the left. It is
followed by a deep and fairly wide creek
which runs across the fairway and ends
with a very elevated two-tiered and
undulating green.
